Engineering goods and service from India have consistently recorded high export by not only bringing in high value foreign exchange, but also by enhancing overseas the image of India. The engineering sector accounts for nearly 12% of India's total export in dollar terms. In its recognition of the meritorious growth of this segment in the general export scenario of India that The Engineering Export council instituted its annual National Export Award.

The award acknowledges the relevant players in the field. The award focuses on the technological upgradation, quality conscious cost effectiveness and aggressive international marketting in sustaining and diversifying the export basket of the engineering goods. The annual award to outstanding exporters in the field is the recognition of their efforts in imbibing these factors in their production and export activity.
